Today was a slice of bicycle heaven. Nirvanna. Ambrosia. Nectar of the Gods. (get it?) Started with mid 60's, blue sky, rode towards Mt. Hood, and towards Mt. Hood, and towards Mt. Hood. I also had an episode of "dead brain" which Herr Kommandant warned us about. Talking to a sales clerk: where are you riding? New Hampshire. Where were you last night? don't know. Where are you staying tonight? don't know. Saw 6 beautiful fighter jets take off from Portland airport, so I pulled over to take a photo. Wouldn't you know it, I guess they were all done, so I took a pic of a regular ol' plane to remind me. Saw some houseboats on the Columbia river that were nicer than many stationary homes I've seen. Saw where Christmas trees come from - and my amber lenses made the japanese maple trees look even more purple. I guess I never realized that trees need their own nursery too.
We're staying at the Resort (inventive name, eh?) right up against Mt. Hood. 75 miles today, who knows what's in store for tomorrow? (I guess I could look, but it would spoil the surprise) I am starting to miss hearing the voices of those I love, but greatly appreciate reading your comments.
My roommate informs me that we have 66 miles, 5000 feet of climbing tomorrow. What a spoilsport.
That's all for now. Love whoever is reading this (most likely) MA
Take care, MA

So are you saying you were riding towards Mt. Hood?
Depending on how those 5000 ft of climbing are spread out, you should have a pretty good day of it tomorrow. Going from Upland up GMR to Baldy Village is 5500 ft of climbing in fewer miles. Going up to Oak Glen via Wildwood Canyon is close to the same thing.
Love the blog.

Hey Marianne,
Just checking in to see how things are going. Too bad about the headphones, but yeah for the jacuzzi. We're all still here and rooting for you. We're at the PD's house this Friday evening for the welcome dinner and will miss you.
Keep pedaling,
Bonnie
Your are amazing. I just received the information about your blog, just had the best laughs. Keep up the good pedaling work.
Miss you
Claudia
Yikes. I missed one day and you've already ridden further in these few days than I have over the entire year! School ends today then we'll be in Carlsbad for 5 days, so I'll catch-up with you soon (you'll probably be in South Dakota by then- smile). Eat, drink, pedal, be Mari-anne!
Love, Tenley
Aloha Marianne,
I love reading about your daily adventures! Hopefully you will keep it up so we all can live vicariously through you and this unbelievable feat.
My butt is hurting with sympathy pains, it is so hard to sit at my desk now, I am going to have to work standing up.
